Rescued- 2 Samuel 22: 17-20
6/28/2020 Sunday Sermon: Rescued 2 Samuel 22: 17 & 20
- Three types of people to focus on onboard the titanic.
Passengers, Crew, and Musicians
Which are you?
- King David’s life is one of a good start but a rocky finish.
- We are encouraged by King David because we see the struggles of his life.
- Ecclesiastes says that even though things have changed they are still the same.
- We find ourselves, in the same place as David and those aboard the Titanic, needing rescue.
- The rescue has a cost:
- David lost his firstborn and brought the sword into his family and got himself exiled.
- For us, the cost is the Surrender of our lives.
- More than the initial rescue (justification) we find we need constant rescue as we try to live for Him (sanctification)
- We need rescue in three main areas:
- Rescue from Sin
- Rescue from Idolatry
- Rescue from Comfort and idleness
- Being stuck in any of these 3 puts us in jeopardy
- We must cling to God for constant rescue and we are also called to help rescue others.
