6/28/2020 Sunday Sermon: Rescued                      2 Samuel 22: 17 & 20

  1. Three types of people to focus on onboard the titanic.

Passengers, Crew, and Musicians

              Which are you?

  • King David’s life is one of a good start but a rocky finish.
  • We are encouraged by King David because we see the struggles of his life.
  • Ecclesiastes says that even though things have changed they are still the same.
  • We find ourselves, in the same place as David and those aboard the Titanic, needing rescue.
  • The rescue has a cost:
    • David lost his firstborn and brought the sword into his family and got himself exiled.
    • For us, the cost is the Surrender of our lives.
  • More than the initial rescue (justification) we find we need constant rescue as we try to live for Him (sanctification)
  • We need rescue in three main areas:
    • Rescue from Sin
    • Rescue from Idolatry
    • Rescue from Comfort and idleness
  • Being stuck in any of these 3 puts us in jeopardy
  • We must cling to God for constant rescue and we are also called to help rescue others.
