5/12/2020 Update

To the Clyde congregation

The elders are announcing that the Clyde church will resume meeting together for Sunday morning worship services Sunday, May 17th.  We will have Sunday morning worship only.  We will begin at 10:00AM and the service will be somewhat shorter than usual.  Please come to the building a little early as moving the congregation into the auditorium will involve some safety precautions consistent with current CDC and government recommendations and common sense.

  1. We will need to maintain the 6’ social distancing when approaching, waiting to enter, and leaving the building.  Family members who have been together during COVID-19 shelter-in-place times will not be required to maintain the 6’ interval.
  2. An usher will escort you to your seat and we expect and will appreciate your sitting in this seat.   You may not be able to sit where you normally do.
  3. Only the main doors on the south end of the building will be unlocked.  Ushers will seat people from the front to the rear of the auditorium.  When the service is over, the ushers will release people to leave the building from the back to the front.
  4. Hand sanitizer and masks will be available for those who want to use them.  Masks will not be required.
  5. Communion will be given to you when you enter the building in a combination package that you will open at the appropriate time.  These will then be brought out by you and will be discarded upon exiting.
  6. Contribution baskets will not be passed during the service but, there will be at least one container for us to drop our contributions into upon entering or leaving the auditorium.
  7. What we ask of members:
    1. if you are sick, please do not attend;
    2. if you are in a high-risk group or otherwise feel uncomfortable about coming, please do not feel obligated to attend;
    3. please honor the 6’ social distance at all times as best as you can;
    4. Please sit where directed.

From the elders.

4/10/2020 Update

Clyde church of Christ

April 10, 2020

From the elders:

As the coronavirus (COVID-19) escalates, the City of Clyde and Callahan County have issued “shelter in place” restrictions following the lead of national medical experts and Governor Abbott to try to reverse the spiraling increases in patient numbers and deaths across the country.  Recently, a confirmed case of COVID-19 was identified in Clyde.  Prudence dictates that we continue to practice “social distancing” and avoiding large gatherings.  In fact, the most recent health orders prohibit meetings of any size for the foreseeable future.  Consequently, the elders have decided that to protect our church family, we will not meet for any Bible classes, worship services, or men’s Wednesday morning prayer meetings for the foreseeable future.  Rather than continuing to make short-term decisions requiring us to send you multiple cancellation notices, we will instead notify you before we resume our regular schedule of meetings.

When you need communion supplies, please contact David Peterson on Thursday or Friday to let him know.  David will be at the building Saturdays from 11:00AM to 1:00PM to distribute the communion supplies.  The individual communion kits are still on back order.

Oldham Lane airs Life in the Light at 10:00AM on Sunday morning on Channel 32.  Hillcrest and several other congregations have Sunday programs.  You should be able to find the necessary information on their websites.

If you need anything or other assistance please do not hesitate to call Bob Goodner @ 325-370.4828, Van Watson @ 325-669-9558, or Rickey Winters @325-668-6882.

It is our prayer that the coronavirus will peak and pass soon, and we can again gather as a family.  We are looking forward to that time.  In the meantime, continue to pray that this virus may pass over the Lord’s church just as the angel of death passed over God’s chosen people in the tenth plague and that Christ’s church will be renewed and strengthened.

Your fellow servants,

The Elders

3/25/2020 Update

Clyde Church of Christ
March 25, 2020
From the Elders:
We are sure you all are aware of the continuing escalation of the coronavirus. There are confirmed cases in Abilene, Cisco, and San Angelo. Some states and even municipalities have enacted strict “stay in place” requirements. It appears we are in the early stages of this pandemic. Consequently, after a meeting with the ministers and two deacons, the elders have decided to take the following actions over the near term.

  1. Sunday, March 29, Bible class, morning service and evening service, including Bible Hour, will be canceled.
  2. Wednesday, April 1, Ladies Morning Bible class and Evening Bible classes and the devotional service will be canceled.
  3. Sunday, April 5, Bible class, morning service and evening service, including Bible Hour, will be canceled.
  4. Wednesday, April 8, Ladies Morning Bible class and Evening Bible classes and the devotional service will be canceled.
  5. We will continue to monitor all local and state recommendations. At this time, we are uncertain whether we will be able to meet together as a family on Sunday, April 12. That decision will be made by the elders Wednesday, April 8.
  6. If you need communion supplies, please call David Peterson Thursday or Friday. He will be at the building from 11:00 AM to 12:00 Noon Saturday to distribute the supplies. The individual communion sets are still on back-order.
  7. Hillcrest and Oldham Lane Churches stream and/or televise (Channel 12(?) Sunday morning services. You can check on their websites. There are other churches that also have an internet presence.
    It is our prayer that the coronavirus will pass quickly, and we can again gather as a family. We are looking forward to that time. In the meantime, continue to pray that with the passing of the virus, many will return to the Lord.
    Your fellow servants,
    Elders.

3/16/2020 Update

Clyde Church of Christ
From the Elders:
As of March 16th, 2020, the CDC is currently prohibiting social gatherings of more than 50 people. By the description of social gatherings, church assembly falls under that definition. President Trump suggested groups of not more than 10. As previously mentioned we would continue to monitor local, state and national recommendations. We have listened to doctors and their professional opinions, and at this time a national effort is being made towards prevention. The Elders feel it is important to assist in the preventative effort. Therefore, we have decided to cancel the following services.
They will include the following dates:
Wednesday, March 18th, 2020 (Ladies morning class & PM services)
Sunday, March 22nd, 2020 (A.M & P.M services)
Wednesday, March 25th, 2020. (Ladies morning class & PM services)
Thursday, March 26th, the elders will meet again and make further decisions. As you know, recommendations are changing daily so we will continue to keep abreast of the information as it becomes available.
In an effort to not forsake the day of remembrance of our Lord and Savior on Sunday, March 22nd, any members that would like to pick up a small amount of juice and bread for communion, we will have the building open Saturday, March 21 st from 10:00 A.M to 2:00 P.M. Please bring a small container for the juice and we will supply a baggy for the bread. Please use the east side entrance under the canopy.
If any member is unable to come to the building, please call or text one of the elders and we can arrange to have it delivered to you.

Verses to consider: 2 Thessalonians 1:4, Hebrews 10:32-34 Hebrews 12:3, Romans 5:3-4, James 1:2-4, James 1:12, Romans 12:12, Romans 5:3, Matthew 5:12, Luke 6:23, 2 Corinthians 6:10, 1 Peter 4:12-13.

God Bless all of you,
Bob, Ricky, and Van
